  1. Is Biblio A Wholesaler?

No, wholesalers or "jobbers" include organizations such as Ingram Book Company, Baker & Taylor, Partners, New Leaf, and Bookazine. Wholesalers purchase books from distributors like Biblio on a non-exclusive basis. Distributors, on the other hand, serve as middlemen between publishers and wholesalers as well as between publishers and retailers. Distributors work with publishers on an exclusive basis and actively sell publishers’ books to both retailers and wholesalers.

  2. Where Will My Books Be Warehoused?

Biblio owns and operates a 300,000 square foot distribution center in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania (near Gettysburg). Once owned by the McGraw-Hill Company, it is considered one of the most efficient, cleanest and best-run facilities in the industry.

  3. Will I Need To Send All My Stock To Biblio’s Warehouse?

We normally suggest publishers keep a 3-6 month supply of books with Biblio to help keep storage and overstock charges to a minimum. We can take a larger quantity, but normally publishers will want to split their stock between their own storage for personal use, Biblio, and any other distributor they use (i.e. the gift or library markets).

  4. How Do I Get Started?

Interested publishers should complete our online application and send in their books for our review. Titles submitted to Biblio for consideration must include the following:

    • A printed copy of your completed online application (be sure to submit the application electronically as well.)
    • Samples of your books, marketing plan, or bound galleys with sample covers, and a catalog if you have one.
    • Your marketing plan: how you plan to support your books once they are on bookstore shelves? (Publicity, advertising, promotion, reviews, etc.)
    • Your future publishing plans: how many books do you publish per year, how many do you plan for next year? Include the subject categories in which you are publishing. Note that these do not need to be huge documents; a simple cover letter describing the highlights of your marketing plan and a short description of your current and future publishing plans is sufficient.
